Privacy policy

We collect as little personal data as possible: to organise your classes, to send you our newsletter if you ask for it, and to count visits anonymously. This page explains what we collect, why, and what your rights are.

What we collect and why

Booking a trial class

When you book a Thursday class with the form on our website, we receive:

  • your first name and, if you give it, your last name;
  • your email address;
  • your WhatsApp number, if you give it;
  • the date you chose and the role you would like to dance (leader, follower or not sure yet).

We use these details only to organise your class: knowing who is coming, balancing leaders and followers, and contacting you if something changes. The legal basis is the steps you ask us to take before joining a class (GDPR, article 6(1)(b)). The WhatsApp number is optional; we only use it to reach you about your class.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter, or tick "Keep me posted" in the booking form, we receive your email address and send you news about classes and events. The legal basis is your consent (GDPR, article 6(1)(a)). You can unsubscribe at any time with the link at the bottom of every newsletter, or by writing to us.

Monday classes

Monday classes are booked on the website of our partner school Quiero Bailar. We do not receive those bookings through our website; Quiero Bailar's own privacy policy applies there.

Photos and videos

Our website shows photos and videos taken at our classes and events. If you appear in one of them and would like it removed, write to us and we will take it down.

Who processes your data

We never sell or share your data with third parties for their own purposes. We use these service providers, who process data on our behalf:

  • Formspree receives the booking form and forwards it to us by email. Formspree is based in the United States, so your booking details are transferred outside the European Union; Formspree describes the safeguards it uses for such transfers in its own privacy policy.
  • MailerLite stores the newsletter subscriber list and sends the newsletter. MailerLite is based in the European Union (Lithuania).
  • Umami measures anonymous visit statistics for us (see Cookies and statistics).
  • Our website host keeps standard technical logs (such as IP addresses and the pages requested) to run and secure the website.
  • Our email provider receives the messages you send to hello@zoukbx.be.

Links to Instagram, Facebook, Quiero Bailar or Google Maps take you to those services, where their own privacy policies apply.

How long we keep it

  • Trial class bookings: 12 months after the date of the class, then deleted.
  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
  • Emails you send us: as long as needed to answer you.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, object to its use, or receive a copy of it. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To do so, write to ; we answer within one month.

If you think we do not handle your data correctly, you can file a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Autorité de protection des données / Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit), Rue de la Presse 35, 1000 Brussels, www.dataprotectionauthority.be.

Cookies and statistics

Our website does not use cookies or advertising trackers.

To understand how the website is used, we use Umami, a privacy-friendly analytics service. It counts visits without cookies and without identifying you: it records the pages viewed, the website you came from, your type of device and browser, and your country, as well as anonymous clicks on key buttons (for example "Book my spot" or links to Quiero Bailar). It does not store your IP address or any personal details you enter in our forms. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in improving the website (GDPR, article 6(1)(f)).

Fonts, images and videos are hosted on our own website, so visiting it does not send your data to Google.
